The Department of Meteorology has urged multi-day fishing vessels and naval personnel to avoid specified areas of the Bay of Bengal until further notice due to a developing cyclonic system.

Those already operating in the affected areas have been instructed to move to safer waters immediately.

Meanwhile, sea areas around Sri Lanka may experience strong winds of up to 60–70 kmph during thundershowers, with rough conditions expected in several coastal areas.
