Professor Indika Karunathilake has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of the University of Colombo (UOC) by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

The President's Media Division (PMD) stated that he received his appointment letter from the Secretary to the President, Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, at the Presidential Secretariat today (23).

Prof. Karunathilake, the first professor in Medical Education at the University, heads both the Department of Medical Education and the WHO Collaborating Centre at the Faculty of Medicine. A prolific academic and researcher, he has authored over 100 international publications and served in various key roles including President of the Sri Lanka Medical Association.

He currently serves as the Secretary General of the Asia Pacific Academic Consortium for Public Health (APACPH) and brings decades of experience in curriculum development and international medical education leadership.
