The Cabinet of Ministers has directed ministries and institutions to prepare and implement programmes to repurpose government-owned buildings that remain abandoned, underutilised, or incomplete.
According to the General Treasury, information was gathered at divisional secretariat level with the support of the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils, and Local Government. A total of 2,972 such buildings have been identified across the country.
The President, in his capacity as Minister of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development, is to submit a detailed report on the physical condition of these facilities. Based on the findings, the government expects the relevant institutions to take immediate steps to convert them into productive use.
