Twelve beachgoers who were swimming in the Panadura Sea today (22) have been hospitalised after contacting a species of jellyfish.

This species is known to cause symptoms such as redness, itching, and pain in the affected parts of the body.

According to Police, the affected group has been transported to Panadura Base Hospital for treatment.
