The national programme for issuing ‘Himikama’ freehold land title deeds will be inaugurated today (27) in Anuradhapura. 

The initiative aims to grant absolute ownership of land to farmers and the public who have developed lands under permits and schemes. 

The ceremony, attended by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake at the North Central Provincial Council Auditorium, will distribute 500 title deeds in the district. 

This move seeks to resolve land ownership issues faced by landholders, allowing them to develop their land freely. 

The programme will expand nationwide, with guidance from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Land, and Irrigation.
