Samantha Power, Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) met with President Ranil Wickremesinghe today (14).
The duo deliberated on Sri Lanka’s economic reform agenda.
Power affirmed USAID’s commitment to collaborating with Government of Sri Lanka (GoSL) in tackling formidable economic challenges.
She also highlighted the significance of a democratic governance and a consultative legislative process.
Power reiterated robust U.S. backing for freedom of expression and association, urging President Wickremesinghe to address apprehensions regarding the potential impact of the Online Safety Act (OSA) on freedom of expression, as well as to foster investment in Sri Lanka’s dynamic digital economy.
