Investigations have been widened into the alleged misappropriation of US$2.5 million from the Ministry of Finance.

Health and Mass Media Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa stated that both a CID probe and an internal Finance Ministry inquiry are underway.

He noted that authorities are examining whether any public officials were involved.

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) is also conducting investigations.

Legal action will follow once investigations are completed, the Minister stated.
