The Sri Lanka Army has extended its support in treating the wild tusker ‘Bhathiya’, who had been recovering from gunshot wounds sustained two months ago and recently fell into a water pit in the Manigama area, Nikaweratiya.
Following instructions from the Ministry of Defence, personnel from the 15th Sri Lanka Artillery and 9th Sri Lanka National Guard were deployed to secure the location for wildlife officers to commence treatment.
Army troops continue to assist in the ongoing rescue operation alongside wildlife officials currently working at the site.
