The Sri Lanka Planetarium, a landmark built in 1965, is set to undergo a comprehensive renovation. 

The Cabinet has approved the proposal to restore the facility, which has been affected by structural decay and outdated technical infrastructure.

The renovation, which aims to preserve the building's distinctive architectural identity, will be handled by the National Engineering Research and Development Centre (NERD). 

NERD was selected for the task due to its expertise in prefabricated concrete technology.
