Central Bank Governor Nandalal Weerasinghe stated that providing ATM cash services places a significant financial burden on banks.

He noted this during a meeting between President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and heads of banks and financial institutions.

The discussion followed the launch of the National QR Payment Promotion Initiative.

The Governor stated that shifting to digital transactions could reduce costs and improve efficiency.

Banks also noted their support for promoting digital payment systems across the country.
