The Agricultural and Agrarian Insurance Board has expanded crop insurance programmes to cover farmers against natural disasters and climate-related risks.

The schemes cover key crops including tea, rubber, coconut, cinnamon and banana, with separate cover for seed paddy farms.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation says the insurance is offered at concessionary premium rates.

Farmers can obtain details through the board’s district offices or hotline 1918.
