Dr. Tilak Siyambalapitiya has officially resigned from his post as Chairman of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), concluding his tenure that began on 26 September 2024. 

The resignation took effect on Friday (9), with senior staff bidding him farewell. 

When contacted by The Sunday Morning, Dr. Siyambalapitiya confirmed his resignation.

“I have resigned at the end of the period agreed upon when I accepted the position at the President’s request. I have many family commitments. There are very capable professionals already in the CEB who will continue the work,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Energy Ministry Secretary, who is currently in Bhutan, said he was unaware of the resignation details.
