The Irrigation Department states that water levels in several major rivers and reservoirs across the island are gradually returning to normal.

The Nilwala River at Thalgahagoda remains at a minor flood level but is declining. Water levels in the Gin River have returned to normal, while the Baddegama area remains at a minor flood level and is also receding.

Water levels at Millakanda and Kuda Ganga also remain at minor flood levels but are gradually returning to normal.

The Irrigation Department expects the elevated river levels not to rise to flood levels, as no significant rainfall is forecast for today (28).
