• August inflows rise to USD 748.6 m

Sri Lanka received a total of USD 6.131 billion in remittances from overseas Sri Lankan workers during the eight-month period from January to August this year (2026), the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) stated.

The figure represents an increase compared to the same period last year (2025), when total remittances stood at USD 5.116 billion.

Of the total received during the first eight months of this year, USD 748.6 million was received in August alone.

This was also an increase from the USD 680.8 million received in August 2025, according to the latest CBSL report.
