A 22-year-old suspect has been arrested for allegedly defrauding Rs. 1,000,024 by creating a fake website resembling a private bank site.

Investigations were launched by the Computer Crimes Investigation Division following a complaint.

The suspect, a resident of Minuwangoda, was arrested yesterday(20) and taken to the Wariyapola Police Station.

He is due to be produced before the Kurunegala Magistrate’s Court today(21), while further investigations are ongoing.
