The Central Cultural Fund (CCF) announced that around 70 per cent of the ancient walls in Sigiriya are damaged due to tourists walking on them.
CCF Director General Prof. Gamini Ranasinghe stated that signs have been put up instructing visitors to refrain from walking on the walls. Still, many tourists need to pay more attention to them.
The Director also added that millions of rupees are spent annually to restore the ancient brick walls.
