• Poisons, Opium and Dangerous Drugs Ordinance and Judicature Act to be amended

The Poisons, Opium and Dangerous Drugs Ordinance as amended and the Judicature Act, No. 02 of 1978 as amended, are to be amended to ban the trade of narcotic drugs in the Ocean.

The resolution submitted for the amendment of the said Ordinance and Act was discussed by the Cabinet of Ministers in February and approval was granted to prepare a fundamental draft/concept paper by obtaining the opinion of all the parties. Accordingly, the amendments to be made to revise the said Ordinance and Act have been recognised. The Cabinet on Monday (23) granted approval to the proposal submitted by the Justice and National Integration Minister to direct the Legal Draftsman to take measures to prepare a draft Bill for the amendment of the said Ordinance and Act based on the amendments mentioned.
