The Department of Meteorology has issued an ‘Amber’ advisory for severe lightning today (05).

The warning is in effect until 11.30 p.m. covering Central, Sabaragamuwa, Eastern, Uva and North-Central provinces, and Vavuniya and Mullaitivu districts.

Thundershowers with severe lightning are expected after 1.00 p.m., with possible strong winds.

The public is advised to take precautions against lightning hazards.
