Secretary to the President Nandika Sanath Kumanayake directed officials to expedite disaster relief efforts for those affected by Cyclone Ditwah.

The instruction was given during the 16th session of the National Council for Disaster Management held at the Presidential Secretariat.

Dr. Kumanayake stressed improved coordination among institutions, prompt compensation payments, and the use of accurate data to speed up relief operations.

Officials also discussed identifying land for new housing and accelerating construction following National Building Research Organisation guidelines.
