Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) officers arrested 22 individuals dressed in saffron robes at Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake.

According to reports, the suspects, arriving from Thailand, were intercepted based on intelligence.

Over 110 kg of kush and hashish, valued at more than Rs. 1.1 billion, were found concealed in their luggage.

Each suspect was allegedly carrying over 5 kg of narcotics hidden in secret compartments.

The suspects are in PNB custody and are to be produced before the Negombo Magistrate’s Court.
