The Department of Meteorology has issued an Amber advisory for severe lightning in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts.

The advisory, issued at noon today (04), will remain in effect until 11.00 p.m.

Thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning and temporary localized strong winds are likely in affected areas.

The public is urged to take necessary precautions to minimize damage and ensure safety.
