Parliamentarian and the General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Sagara Kariyawasam expressed his readiness to engage in a legal battle with the leader of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP)-led National People's Power (NPP) Anura Kumara Dissanayake (AKD).
This comes after AKD stated that he had initiated legal action against Kariyawasam in response to an accusation made by Kariyawasam that the Janatha Vimukthi JVP was maintaining an offshore currency account in Malta. Kariyawasam stated that he intends to raise questions in court regarding allegations made by AKD. He believes that these allegations against the SLPP leadership are fabricated.
Similarly, Palitha Range Bandara, the General Secretary of the United National Party (UNP), has also commented on the situation asserting that allegations have been made against the JVP, claiming that the party has invested the country's wealth in Malta.
