The Parliamentary Select Committee appointed to study the lack of preparedness to face Cyclone Ditwah has questioned senior Sri Lanka Police officials involved in responding to the disaster.

The officials were questioned when the Committee met at Parliament under the chairmanship of Minister Dr Nalinda Jayatissa.

Several Senior Superintendents of Police and Superintendents of Police from districts affected by Cyclone Ditwah were summoned to provide information on the measures taken in response to the disaster.

Former MP Nimal Piyatissa was also questioned over comments he made to the media regarding the response to the cyclone.

The Committee is tasked with examining the country’s preparedness and response to Cyclone Ditwah and submitting a report with proposals and recommendations to Parliament.
