Traffic movement on the Hatton–Colombo main road has been restored following an earth slip in the Kuyilwatte area.

The road was blocked for several hours after the earth slip occurred around 6.00 p.m. yesterday (24) amid heavy rain.

Police and the Road Development Authority have also cleared several affected feeder and side roads.

Hatton Police urged motorists to remain cautious due to the continued risk of earth slips along the Hatton–Nuwara Eliya and Hatton–Colombo roads and nearby routes.

Meanwhile, two spill gates each at the Upper Kotmale and Lakshapana reservoirs have been opened as water levels continue to rise.
