Prime Minister (PM) Harini Amarasuriya took part in the Sinhala and Tamil New Year oil anointing ceremony held at the historic Rajamaha Viharaya Kolonnawa this morning (16).

The ritual, led by Venerable Kolonnawa Dhammika Thero, was conducted at the auspicious time of 9:04 a.m. following pirith chanting.

The event saw the participation of local officials, members of the Maha Sangha, and area residents.

PM Harini emphasised the festival's role in fostering unity, love, and spiritual development, urging all to work together to rebuild the nation.

She extended heartfelt New Year wishes, hoping for a peaceful and prosperous year for all Sri Lankans.
