The petitioners who have sought a restraining order against the Cycling Federation of Sri Lanka (CFSL), have indicated their willingness to withdraw the appeal on the proviso of respondents allowing the qualified members to contest a fresh election of office bearers.
This was conveyed by legal representatives of the petitioners when the case was convened before the Court of Appeal.
The Bench consisted of Acting Chief Judge of the Court of Appeal Justice Mohamed Laffar and Justice Sarath Dissanayake.
Sports Minister Sarath Kumara Gamage and Director General of Sports, Shemal Fernando have been named as respondents.
The lawyers on behalf of both Gamage and Fernando, informed the Court that they are agreeable to the possibility of allowing the qualified members of CFSL to contest its AGM.
Deputy Solicitor General Manohara Jayasinghe, appeared on behalf of the Attorney General while Attorney-at-Law Hijaz Hizbullah, represented the petitioners.
After hearing the submissions made by both parties, the Court advised them to produce the written statements when the case is next heard again on 14 March.
