Opening batsman Dimuth Karunaratne became the fourth Sri Lankan batsman to score over 7,000 runs in his Test cricket career.
He achieved this in the second innings of Sri Lanka’s final Test match against England at the Oval Stadium yesterday (8), collecting 7,007 runs, becoming the 57th batsman in the world to cross this mark.
Other Sri Lankan batsmen to have crossed the 7,000 Test run mark are Kumar Sangakkara (12,400), Mahela Jayawardena (11,814) and Angelo Mathews (7731).
