President Anura Kumara Dissanayake chaired a meeting at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday (04) to assess damage to the agriculture, livestock and irrigation sectors following recent adverse weather.
Officials from the Agriculture and Finance Ministries briefed the President on losses to paddy, maize, grain and vegetable cultivation, with emphasis placed on expediting compensation for affected farmers, the PMD stated.
The impact on livestock and irrigation networks was also reviewed, with the President instructing officials to urgently assess damages and implement swift restoration measures.
Relevant plans are to be prepared and executed without delay, the PMD added. Senior ministers, secretaries and department heads attended the meeting.
