Sri Lanka has increased ​Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) testing in selected hospitals to monitor a new COVID-19 variant. 

Secretary to the Ministry of Health, Dr. Anil Jasinghe, confirmed enhanced surveillance for patients with fever or respiratory symptoms. 

The situation remains under control, with no lockdowns planned.
