The Netball Federation of Sri Lanka (NFSL) President Vajira Netticumara handed over the official appointment letter to Somitha de Alwis – confirming her position as the senior national netball coach for the forthcoming 14th Asian Netball Championship in Hong Kong 2026.

De Alwis, is a former player cum coach who represented her country in three successive Netball World Cups – 1995 in England, 1999 in New Zealand and 2003 in Jamaica.

Sri Lanka, the six-times champions, will aim for a top-two finish at the competition in Hong Kong this August, as only its winner and runner-up are set to advance to the Netball World Cup in Australia next year.
