The Department of Meteorology has forecast showers or thundershowers at times in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts today (10).

Showers may also occur in parts of Uva Province and the Ampara, Batticaloa and Mullaitivu districts after 2.00 p.m.

Strong winds of 30–40 km/h are expected at times in the North Central, North Western, Central and Southern provinces and Trincomalee District.

The public has been advised to take precautions against strong winds and lightning.
