A three-year-old girl was killed in a road accident involving a motorcycle and a cab in Welipenna on Friday morning(26).

The incident occurred near the fifth mile post on the Aluthgama–Matugama Road when the motorcycle, on which the child was travelling with her parents towards Matugama, collided with a cab coming from the opposite direction.

All three were admitted to hospital, but the child died shortly after admission. 

Her parents were later transferred to Nagoda Teaching Hospital for further treatment.

The cab driver has been taken into custody as investigations continue.
