Sri Lanka’s population stands at 21,763,170, per the 2024 Census, showing a rise of 1.4 million since 2012. 

The annual growth rate has slowed to 0.5%. 

The Western Province remains the most populous (28.1%), with Gampaha leading districts. 

Northern districts like Mullaitivu and Mannar remain least populated. 

Colombo has the highest population density, while Mullaitivu recorded the fastest growth.
