The Court of Appeal has postponed until 22 October its decision on intervening petitions seeking permission to make submissions in a case filed by former State Intelligence Service (SIS) Director, retired Major General Suresh Sallay.
Sallay’s petition challenges his arrest and detention by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in connection with investigations into the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks.
The intervening petitions were filed by several Buddhist monks, including Venerable Bengamuwe Nalaka Thero, Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith, and several civil society organisations. The decision was originally scheduled for 14 October.
