- With high energy turnout
Peppermint Cafe hosted its first run club on 3 May, bringing together runners for a morning focused on fitness and community engagement in Colombo.
Organised in collaboration with fitness influencer Neesh, the event attracted nearly 140 participants, including experienced runners as well as beginners taking part in a community run for the first time. Neesh’s online presence and focus on fitness contributed to encouraging participation in the event.
Carnage joined as the official sponsor for Neesh’s outfits and also distributed complimentary socks to participants during the run.
The 5-kilometre route started from Peppermint Cafe and continued to Independence Square before returning to the café, providing participants with a route suitable for different fitness levels.
The event atmosphere remained focused on participation and group engagement, with runners completing the course while interacting with fellow participants. Photography for the event was handled by Burnt Orange Media, which documented the run and related activities.
Following the run, participants were provided refreshments at Peppermint Cafe, which also served as the main food sponsor for the event. In addition, 25 participants received foldable coffee cups during the programme.
Plans are underway to hold the run club twice a month, with the organisers aiming to continue similar community-based fitness events in Colombo.
