Govt revises leave rules for elected public officers

The government has revised leave provisions for public officers elected as Deputy Mayors or Vice Chairpersons of local authorities.


Under the new rules issued by the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government, eligible officers may take six days of paid leave per month or opt for no-pay leave during their term.


The amendment follows a Cabinet decision taken on 22 June 2026.
