The Department of Meteorology has issued an ‘Amber’ advisory for severe lightning in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-Central, Southern, Uva, North-Western provinces, and Mannar district.

The advisory, issued at noon today (18), is in effect until 11:00 p.m.

Thundershowers with severe lightning and possible localized strong winds are expected after 2:00 p.m., and the public is advised to take precautions.
