A protest was held on 2 February in Nedunkerny against the proposed Kivul Oya Reservoir Project.

Representatives of Tamil political parties and local residents took part, demanding the project be halted.

Protesters stated that they oppose plans to use the project to resettle people from the South in the Northern Province, while providing irrigation to Welioya.
