The Department of Meteorology has issued an Amber advisory for severe lightning in the Central, Sabaragamuwa, Northern, North Central, North Western, Eastern and Uva provinces.

The advisory, issued at 11.30 a.m. today (21), remains in effect until 1.30 a.m. tomorrow (22).

The public has been urged to take precautions against lightning, as localised strong winds may also occur during thundershowers.
