The United States has announced a US$17 million grant to upgrade Sri Lanka’s Maritime Single Window and Port Community System, aiming to improve digital infrastructure and streamline port operations.

US Ambassador to Sri Lanka Eric Stern Meyer announced the funding during a visit to the Port of Colombo on 16 October, where he met Sri Lanka Ports Authority Chairman Dr Parakrama Dissanayake and other officials, including Ports and Civil Aviation Minister Anura Karunathilaka.

The proposed upgrades are expected to improve information-sharing among port authorities, Customs, shipping lines and terminal operators, reduce paperwork and support faster cargo clearance.
