Harshana Suriyapperuma  has officially assumed duties as the new Secretary to the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development.

He was appointed to the position earlier today (23), following the retirement of outgoing Finance Secretary Mahinda Siriwardana.

Suriyapperuma, a former National List MP representing the National People’s Power (NPP) and a former Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning, resigned from Parliament last week ahead of his new appointment.
