A 20-metric-tonne consignment of high-energy fortified biscuits from the World Food Programme(WFP) and the Government of Australia has arrived in Colombo to support communities affected by Cyclone Ditwah.
The shipment, provided free under Sri Lanka’s Cyclone Emergency Response Programme, was mobilised through the UN Humanitarian Response Depot in Dubai and handed over to the WFP Country Office in Colombo.
Distribution will be coordinated with the Ministry of Rural Development, Social Security and Community Empowerment, prioritising districts with restricted access, including Badulla, Kandy, Kegalle and Nuwara Eliya.
The aid provides essential nutrition to displaced and affected populations.
