Sri Lanka's Parliament observed the upcoming 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence 2025 campaign, with members wearing official badges today(24).
Minister of Women and Child Affairs, Saroja Savithri Paulraj, stressed that living free from violence is a fundamental human right.
She stated that the campaign, running from tomorrow (25) until 10 December, will focus this year on preventing digital-space gender-based violence.
MP Chamindrani Kiriella highlighted that one in five Sri Lankan women experience violence.
She welcomed the recognition of sexual harassment as a criminal offence under Section 345 of the Penal Code.
