Sri Lankan students of Nalanda University, Rajgir, India, celebrated the 78th Independence Day of Sri Lanka on 4 February at the university premises. The event was held under the guidance and patronage of the Vice Chancellor of Nalanda University, Dr. Sachin Chaturvedi.
The celebration took place in the evening and highlighted Sri Lank’s rich cultural heritage. Students presented traditional cultural performances, music, and displays that reflected Sri Lanka’s history, diversity, and national identity. The programme provided an opportunity for students from different countries to learn about Sri Lankan traditions and values.
A special attraction of the event was the Sri Lankan food spread, where traditional dishes were shared with international students and staff, promoting cultural exchange and mutual understanding among the university community.
On that evening, Vice Chancellor Professor Sachin Chaturvedi said that India-Sri Lanka relations have been shaped by mutual respect and shared heritage. Sri Lanka’s journey exemplifies resilience and the harmonious balance between tradition and modernity, he said.
The Independence Day celebration strengthened friendship among students of different nationalities and showcased the spirit of unity, cultural pride, and harmony at Nalanda University.
