Sri Lanka has been ranked the world's third most traffic-congested country, according to Numbeo's Traffic Index by Country 2026 Mid-Year.

The country recorded a traffic index score of 254.5, behind only Nigeria and Costa Rica.

The index measures congestion using factors including travel time, traffic inefficiency, fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions based on user-submitted data.
