Suspended Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandhu Tennakoon has been summoned to appear before the Committee of Inquiry on 19 May.

The committee, tasked with investigating Tennakoon’s alleged abuse of power, has met several times in Parliament and will conduct further investigations with his participation.

This marks the first time Tennakoon has been formally requested to appear before the committee, according to the Parliamentary Communications Department.
