A new initiative has been launched to identify and utilise underused wells, reservoirs, streams and other groundwater sources across Colombo, Gampaha and Kalutara districts.

The programme will assess the quality and capacity of these sources for drinking, domestic, agricultural and industrial use.

The initiative aims to improve water resource management and reduce pressure on treated water supplied by the National Water Supply and Drainage Board.
