The Sri Lanka Navy brought ashore an injured fisherman for urgent medical treatment yesterday(25).
The fisherman, aboard a multi-day trawler from Tangalle, suffered a serious arm fracture about 45 nautical miles off the southern coast.
The Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) Colombo coordinated the rescue following a request from the Department of Fisheries.
Naval personnel provided first aid and transported the injured fisherman to Hambantota Port.
He was later admitted to the Hambantota District General Hospital for further treatment, the Navy stated.
