Udaya Gammanpila today (06) claimed that former State Intelligence Service chief Suresh Sallay has begun a hunger strike while being held under detention orders.

Speaking at a press conference, Gammanpila alleged that Sallay had refused food, water and medication while in the custody of the Criminal Investigation Department.

He further claimed that Sallay's family observed his condition during a visit to the CID.

No official response from authorities was reported in relation to the claims.
