The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the transfer of three warehouse buildings and land in Veyangoda, including two cold stores, to the Ministry of Health and Mass Media to expand storage for the Medical Supply Division.
Currently, the division’s facilities can store medicines for only 22 to 30 days of annual consumption.
The expansion will enable procurement for over six months and maintain a three-month buffer stock, helping to prevent shortages and ensure timely distribution of medicines and medical supplies to health institutions across the country.
